Educational #1 - Goal Setting
I need to start with an apology. I know this is meant to be a humorous contest but I'm afraid I couldn't think of anything funny to say. But don't worry, I've got something just as good. Instead I've prepared an educational lecture on goal achievement. Now one of the best ways of achieving your goals is by envisioning them. Today I will show you what its like to be at the top of the heap, to be a DTM, so you can envision it. I'll also show you how TM supplies you with the right material to get there.
Consider what we do most at TM. Sit and subliminally listen to self-improvement speeches. just as you're doing right now. After this speech none of you will have a clue what was sais, but, believe it or not, some will permeate into your brain, where it collects. The longer you're at TM, the fuller your brain gets. Exactly the same principle as when you needed to study at business school and you put the corporate finance textbook under your pillow before going to sleep.
What else do they teach you at TM? To stand and confidently spout forth cow waste at a group of glazed looking faces, all doing this subliminal listening thing. All quietly absorbing what you emit in their direction. Slowly developing executive leadership material.
The first change you will notice will be in your careers. For example, at work I used to feel guilty about all the work I never did. Not anymore. I used to sneak out the back door at 3 to get to the pub early. Now I march boldly out the front door at 2 30, waving goodbye to the boss on the way. I used to feel shy about telling people what I thought of them. Now I tell them in puiblic, and in a well structured manner, with a beginning, a body and a conclusion. And I have a CC5, so I use hand gestures too.
You see, TM makes you fearless.
And what kind of speed of progress could atypical group of TMers like yourselves expect? Well, I've only been at TM for 3 years and already I'm potentially top leadership material. But in a few years, after much subliminal absorption, I'll be a DTM. What then?
We need to consider an example. A number of years ago there was a member of the Hong Yin TM club in Beijing. When he was at CC level he was just like you and me, fearless and with good voice projection. Then, after many years he became just like Vic, a DTM. His name was Gengis Khan. Now Gengis, like any other DTM, dreamt of being in charge of the world, and he would have achieved his goal if he hadn't been sidetracked.
You see, I have it on good authority that there is nothing women nfind more attractive than power. So when you're a DTM you have this side effect to deal with which always prevents you reaching your main goal, but normally by then you don't seem to mind too much. Now Gengis was such a good TM that he had relations with up to 3 women on every night of his life. I know that sounds pleasant but possibly a bit demanding. Not so. It turns out that the more your brain fills with what TM gives you, the more your alternative brain takes control. Just look at our President. Or myself. I'm only a cc5 and already not much of what I say makes any sense, and the women in the audience won't be able to deny a bit of the ol' TM magic has already rubbed off on me (wink).
There's another example. Some years back, a German, a member of the Voorsprung TM club in Heidelberg. He became a DTM and was well on his way to his goal of world domination when he got sidetracked so much that he lost complete control of his brain and invaded Russia in the winter. He ended up locked in a bunker with some women, and then really lost the plot and married one, Eva Braun. Of course he never got out alive, its accepted he must have committed suicide. You see, TM does not make you clever, in fact, quite the opposite.
What I'm trying to say here tonight is that if you're finding its taking a long time to complete your CC manual, you obviously haven't been envisioning your future as a DTM properly. I'm quite sure I will never miss another TM meeting, and I would suggest neither do any of you.
